I have teamed up with the all forsaken guild Defilers of Arathor to create a new open world battleground for our guilds. It takes place right inside Gilneas. So how does this work? Well let's begin.
At any given point the city will be divided into two halves In Character. We of the Päck control the Western half of the city while DoA controls the Eastern half. During un-planned events we are going to be encouraging our members to RP out here. Yes it is a pain to get to Gilneas, but at the same time it can open us up to a lot of fun.
We have planned out a battleground scenario that has never been attempted before. This will be a series of RP PVP events where we will match numbers with the Horde and attempt a kill target open world battleground.
Both teams will choose a single member to be the "boss." This boss CANNOT be a tank spec. The boss' name will be given to the other team so they know their target.
Each team must not only keep their boss alive, but also kill the enemy team's. This means that you will need a group to defend your boss, and the rest of your group must act defensively.
Both teams start in their base. For us our base is the Light's Dawn Cathedral, the horde base is the prison square in the Military District.
Your team's boss is boss is NOT permitted to leave their base. The enemy boss will be limited to only the ground level of the prison, so they will not be in the stair wells or on the roof.
The bosses are permitted to use their class specific stealth abilities (meaning no Stealthman or Shadowmeld if we get an outsider). If you are on our side stay out of the water inside the cathedral as that would allow you to hide from several AoE abilities.
No flying during this event, at all, or even items that take you into the air higher than your jump.
Battle resurrection only. No mass res, no quickly resurrecting your teammate at the end of the fight, unless a side has been declared victorious. If you die your team will either have to use a battle resurrection or you can run back to your body. Both factions share a graveyard at Emberstone Village.
We will match numbers with DoA. The first attempt will be just our guilds, maybe one or two friends to even out. After that we may invite allies.
While the boss cannot be a tank spec, anyone else who wishes to participate using a tank spec will be allowed to do so.
The tunnel that leads out of the city in Greymane Court is off limits.
The canals/water ways are off limits. Meaning you cannot cross them even by jump. ICily they are now loaded with spikes and/or filled with the plague. Which means the only way to cross the canals is by bridge. If you end up in the water at any point, the only ways you are allowed to leave is to either die, be life gripped out by a priest, or an enemy death knight can pull you out for the slaughter.
These rules are completely untested. It might not be fair or balanced on the first attempt. In a sense we will be Alpha testing concept and both sides will make notes on what worked and didn't work. If one side gets stomped don't give up so easily, we will try again. Things that are up for questioning, but still not yet in the rules are:
